MATRI MANDIR SAMITY celebrated 150th years birth day (sardha satabarsha) of our beloved poet Kabi Guru Rabindra Nath Tegore on 8th may, 2011. This year whole world will celeberate his 150th birth day. Function at Matri Mandir started with Rabindra Sangeet by a group of children, who are from Matri Mandir music wing / school. Matri Mandir’s Mahila Samity also paid their homeage to Kabi Guru by performing chorus rabindra sangeet. Editor of matri mandir sambad, Mr. Kalipada Chakraborty had given speech about Rabindra Nath Tegore and highlighted achievements about his life and literature. He also mentioned about the contribution of tegore in our literature and society. Tegore was a bengali poet, novelist, musician, painter and play writer, who reshaped bengali literature and music. As author of Gitanjali with its ‘profoundly sensitive, fresh and fresh and beautiful verse’, he was the first non-european to be awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. His poetry in translation was viewed as spiritual, and this together with his mesmerizing persona gave him a prophet-like aura in the west. He is the only nobel winner personality, whose songs are national anthems of two countries i.e. India and Bangladesh. India’s national anthem ‘jana gana mana’ was written in the year 1911 and Bangladesh’s national anthem ‘amar sonar bangla’ became national anthem of bangladesh in the year 1971.
As a special/auspicious day and paying tribute to Rabindra Nath Tagore, a special issue about Rabindra Nath Tegore was inagurated by renowned Dr. Ujjal Chowdhury and Nr. Tarun Kumar Banerjee. India Revival Group of Delhi, who are famous for their dance drama, performed their ballet ‘Kabi Guru’, which was appreciated by all. Using slide show effects they made the more attractive. There was a prize distribution programme of Painting Competition, which was held at Matri Mandir premises on 17th april. Trophy, cash award and certificates were handed over to the winners/ participants to boost up their moral. Mr. Rathin Mukherjee and Mr. Sibeshwer Mkherjee, who is the father of Siddhartha Mukherjee (who recently owned Pulitzar Award in U.S.A.) and senior member of Matri Mandir, had handed over the prizes to the participants and encouraged them.
The function arena was full of spectators and they enjoyed the programme till last. At the end of the programme Prasad, Sweets and Food were distributed to all. |
